This house, on the west side of Rose, had gotten in much disrepair in recent years: the renter appeared to be away most of the time in Chicago. The owner died a few months ago. I talked with the contractor who is now gutting and rehabbing the entire place. He said he buys older houses in need of work and then fixes them up. They started by carting away many loads of junk and old possessions. The house now looks really sharp: new roof, new windows, new pale green siding; inside, he said they are putting in new hardwood floors on the main floor and new carpet upstairs; they left the original stairway woodwork; putting in a new furnace. Next, he says, they will do complete landscaping outside. He will put it on the market soon.

The contractor had someone interested in purchasing the place, but that person has since backed out. I told him we would be happy to post it on our website to help him promote it. He will give me a sheet with the detail on the property when he has it ready and I'll post the property on our "Real Estate" board. I'll get some pictures of the inside when he is ready.
