I've seen a standard definition of W.H. to include these boundaries: Howard St., Bronson Blvd., Cork St., S. Burdick St. Does this make intuitive sense? These boundaries seem right to me with the possible exception of the northern one, Howard St.; in fact Howard is far north of "the Hill."

I got to thinking because I was wondering how to answer the quiz, "Top 10 W.H. News Events of the Past 20 Years"... There was a nasty hostage-taking and shooting on Maple St. (just below Crane Park) a couple years ago. But did that occur "on Westnedge Hill"?

Any thoughts on this? How do we define "our neighborhood"?

I am not sure who is responsible for the official definition of the boundaries, but the city is probably a logical candidate. I am including a scan of an old crime report (* crimewatchbulletin-07-2002.pdf (176.81 KB - downloaded 257 times.)) from the Kalamazoo Public Safety that shows a map of the neighborhood. As you can see, they consider the "hood" to extend even farther north than Howard.

From my understanding the border is Burdick, Cork/White, Bronson to Maple.
