I thought it might be helpful to point out some ways to make your participation in the Forum as easy as possible:
- First things first: Register to be a member of the Forum, if you haven?t already done so (go to the Forum, click on the REGISTER tab, and enter your information).
- After you register, I will receive an email message from the Forum and I will approve your membership (this is so that spammers can not abuse the Forum and it?s members) ? you will receive an email telling you that your membership has been approved. Of course you have to be a paid member of the association. If you are not, go the the website home page by clicking on the WHA HOME tab and use the online enrollment to join.
- Log on and go to your profile (PROFILE tab, Account Related Settings on the left under Modify Profile) and place a check-mark in the Hide email address from public check-box if you want to keep your email address from showing when others view your profile. Make any other changes to you profile that you wish. Save your changes.
- Request notification when items are posted to boards ? This is one of the most useful features of the Forum. Go to the FORUM HOME tab to display a list of all the boards. Click on each board in turn and then click on the NOTIFY tab. You will now receive an email notification whenever a new item is posted to that board. If you decide that you are getting too many emails because members are just being way too prolific or you have lost interest in a particular board content or you just want to browse the Forum at your own leisure and you?ll ?see what you see when you see it?, you can simply click on the ?unsubscribe? link in the email from a board you want to unsubscribe from and you?ll receive no more notifications about the board posts.
- Request notifications when posts are made to specific topics ? If you are not getting notications about all posts to a board (see above), you can choose to get notifications about posts to a particular topic. The process is pretty much the same as getting notifications on board posts: Go to the topic, click on NOTIFY.
- Volunteer to be a moderator for a board. The notification email will then contain the content of each post so you can quickly scan it for appropriate content. You will have authorization to modify or delete posts, if necessary.
- Print this item if you want to try some of these suggestions. Just click on the PRINT tab above (or below) this item.
- One last thing: You can use the Forum to send private messages to other Forum members, even if they have chosen to hide their email address from the public. When they log on, they will see that they have a message as the number of unread messages will be displayed in the MESSAGES tab (f.ex. "MESSAGES (2)" if two messages are unread). They can then reply and/or delete the message(s) waiting, similarly to regular email.
If you have any questions or concerns about the website and the Forum, please don?t hesitate to send me a message using the Forum messaging and I'll try to respond prompty.
