Petur,

Is it feasible to have some automatic rotation of photos on the home page? We seem to have lots of photos in the WHA "file," and it would be nice to rotate through them regularly (and without the need for a lot of Webmaster labor!). Nothing like fresh, colorful photos (regardless of the season or the event--I don't think photos need to be "in season" to be relevant) to retain readers' interest...

Thanks, Michael

Yes, this is something we can do. What photos are you talking about? Anyone that has photos they think could be used on the home page, please forward them to me along with a short note on what they are about (if needed). - What is the general feeling on what pictures to post: Do they have to be from the neighborhood (I tend to lean that way) or just Kalamazoo?

I posted a poll to get some feedback.

As I just voted, I think photos should be only from Westnedge Hill. If we can develop a "file" of photos (from the four seasons, different events, some historical, etc.), we should have plenty to rotate from time to time. I feel strongly the photos should be of the Hill. This is what is unique about this Website: it's about Westnedge Hill. Let's get photos that people took 40 years ago (perhaps when their kids were young) showing Hill residents of that time (different clothing styles, landscaping styles, etc.). KPL has historic photos showing, say, the Bryant Paper Mill as seen from Inkster St. (circa 1900). Gazette photos older than 50 years are, I believe, public use photos. Once we develop a deep file, we could then rotate photos regularly and with minimal Webmaster effort, right?

WHAT'S KEY IS THAT THE HOME PAGE PHOTOS ARE CURRENTLY THE ONLY "CONTENT" ON THAT PAGE THAT IS REALLY COLORFUL AND SUBJECT TO VARIATION. THE NIGHT PHOTOS HAVE BEEN THERE 2-3 WEEKS; TIME FOR A CHANGE...

Some of the home photos within the BSA Software (on home ownership) are actually quite artistic.  The homes themselves lend to the primary character of the neighborhood, so I would presume that they would make for good pictures on the home page.  However, I am not sure what the stipulations would be in regards to privacy.  This is simply a suggestion, since I'm speaking only as an honorary member from Atlanta at this time.

I think that ideally we should have only pictures from the neighborhood on the home page and that is how I voted. Let's hope we get some more votes on which way to go, but regardless of how the poll ends up, we need pictures. I have taken and posted all of the pictures so far. We need variety. I really like the idea of posting older pictures as well. Please share your pictures!!!
