Did anyone know that Cork St. used to be called St. James St., this as recently as 1910 or so? Apparently there was a Catholic Church on the south side of the street (east of S. Burdick St.). The prevalence of working-class Irish who went to the church caused some wags to call the road "Cork Street" (presumably for Cork, Ireland). Anybody know about this history?
