> ABOUT THE ECO-SPOT:
> Current and the Alliance for Climate Protection challenged people from around the world to make provocative ecospots, short video messages designed to inspire people to get involved in solving the climate crisis. Hundreds upon hundreds of ecospots were submitted, and George Clooney, Cameron Diaz, Orlando Bloom, Rihanna, among other celebrity judges, picked 23 semifinalists. The contest has now entered its open voting phase--the community is choosing the winners at http://www.current.com/ecospot.
> (Voting closes Friday November 9th at 12:01 PST / 3:01pm EST.)
>
> The top four ecospots as chosen by the community will be broadcast internationally on Current TV, showcased on MySpace?s Impact Channel and featured in the Alliance?s national campaign. Having users choose the winners empowers the audience to help shape how the world thinks about the climate crisis, while also helping to spread the message virally.

> Associate Creative Directors create top 23 video message for Current
>
> (Farmington Hills, Mich.) ? Oct. 29, 2007 ?Mike Lowes and Kevin Curtis, from Shelby and Ray Townships, created a TV commercial that is up for international recognition as a finalist in Current?s ?60 Seconds to Save the Earth? contest.  While Lowes and Curtis are Associate Creative Directors at an ad agency in Farmington Hills, the two completed their independent project using stock footage and their own voices.
>
> ?At DP & Company we encourage our staff to be proactive in community efforts and to do as much as they can independent of the agency,? said agency partner, Bruce Duffey.  ?We are proud of Mike and Kevin?s efforts and the work they?ve created.?
>
> The contest is sponsored by Current, the television station and Web site, the world?s peer to peer news and information network and the Alliance for Climate Protection.  Aspiring journalists, videographers and filmmakers were called upon to produce 15, 30 or 60 second video messages that will drive the public and the government to get involved in solving the climate crisis. Lowes and Curtis chose to base their commercial on a fictional cockroach character discussing the climate crisis and potential harmful results.
>
> ?Science has proven that cockroaches have been walking the earth since the dawn of time and some predict that they will continue to inhabit the world long after humans have,? said Lowes. ?The idea for Perry is founded in this knowledge; will a cockroach telling us to continue on our current path compel us to make changes??
>
> Celebrity judges including George Clooney, Cameron Diaz, Orlando Bloom and Rihanna selected ?Perry the Cockroach? as one of 23 top videos from hundreds of entries.  Voting for the top commercial is open to the general public from October 24, 2007-November 9, 2007.  Lowes and Curtis encourage everyone to view the video messages and vote for ?Perry the Cockroach? at http://www.current.com/ecospot.

> The winning video will be announced on November 14.
