HOLIDAY BOOK READING WITH HOLLY DOYLE
Kalamazoo County Family YMCA Raises Money for Invest in Youth Scholarship Fund
KALAMAZOO COUNTY ? On Thursday, December 13 from 6:30-7:00 p.m. WWMT Channel 3 news anchor, Holly Doyle, will be reading several holiday books for children ages 3-10 years old at Barnes & Noble on South Westnedge in Portage. This reading event is in celebration of the Kalamazoo County Family YMCA book fair at Barnes & Noble.
From December 10 through the 17th, all purchases at Barnes & Noble with a book fair voucher will benefit the YMCA Norman P. Hahn Invest in Youth scholarship fund. ?Invest in Youth raises money and provides scholarships so that all people who want to participate in YMCA programs and services are able to do so,? said James Kneen, YMCA Board President and CEO of Heritage Community of Kalamazoo. In 2006, the YMCA raised $178,000 and distributed 700 scholarships for membership and program participation. Norman P. Hahn was a founder of the YMCA bible study that has been active for over 30 years and was instrumental in many YMCA initiatives.  The Invest in Youth scholarship fund was renamed the Norman P. Hahn Invest in Youth scholarship fund in 2004 as a dedication to this important friend of the Kalamazoo County Family YMCA.
?Thanks for the YMCA and their amazing Invest in Youth scholarship fund. Our family has been able to experience several activities together at all three Kalamazoo County Family YMCA branches?, said Melinda Rice, YMCA Family Member. Rice is a single mother who has helped raised her nephews and would not otherwise be able to attend the YMCA.  ?Maurice loves the YMCA and I feel a great sense of security and respect when my child is in the hands of the YMCA,? said Tonya Davis, YMCA Family Member. Invest in Youth provides scholarships for:

?   Membership
?   Swim, youth, fitness, and tennis classes
?   Child care
?   Summer camp
?   YMCA On-the-Road
?   Preschool
?   Lincoln Branch programs

?The YMCA is unique because it is open to all and the Invest in Youth scholarship fund is what makes that possible. Our staff, members, friends and community all donate to help others achieve a healthy spirit, mind and body,? said Jeanne Borzkowski, Interim CEO Kalamazoo County Family YMCA.  Holiday shopping the week of December  10 through the 17th, with a YMCA Barnes & Noble book fair voucher helps get your shopping done and helps to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.

Vouchers are available at YMCA branch, on our website at www.kzooymca.org or at Barnes and Noble that week.
Contact the Kalamazoo County Family YMCA at (269) 345-9622 or visit the website at www.kzooymca.org to find out how you can become part of the YMCA family and celebrate family all year!
For 100 years the Kalamazoo County Family YMCA has provided licensed childcare, aquatics, fitness, tennis, and youth sports for families in our community.  Everyone is welcome at our three branches regardless of their financial situation.  Contact the Kalamazoo County Family YMCA at 345-9622 or visit us online at www.kzooymca.org.
